Open what?

I’m interested in clusters and to put it simply clusters are cities where rapid innovation-to-marketĀ  transfers occur on a large scale. Greater Boston has been one of the most sucessfull for the pas 20 years. Paris Region is one of the European wannabees and started the race only 5 years ago.

If there is free as in beer, as opensource supporters put it, there should open as in bars, in the world of cluster-based economic development. Clusters are about innovation and people and bars are where you meet people and talk about ideas before they take shape (or go bust). By the way, technology is tools, a by-product of innovation. Innovation is in people, in how people open problems to wider views, to different thinking.

These people are entrepreneurs and VCs, as you would expect, but the whole system involves also scientists both from the industry and academia, lawyers as well as a whole range of service providers, and whole variety of people from public and quasi-public agencies, consulates and offices.
I spend most of my time working with these people. Some of theme are really so passionnate about what they do and so naturally open to meeting other people with different backgrounds and ideas… it just was obvious that I should try to keep track.

The bar is open, meet the crowd. Should you wish to meet someone in particular, just let me know.
